Description

In September 2023, Camden Council will employ 6 Interns for 18 months paid at London Living Wage (£22,432 per year). These opportunities are open to ages 16 to 24.

Applicants must be a Camden Looked After Child or Camden Care Leaver

The Internships are based within various teams at Camden Council.  We are offering good quality job placements in a supportive environment to help young people grow and develop.

  • Do you want to gain valuable paid work experience?
  • Are you motivated and interested to learn about working in the council?

If so then we want to hear from you.

Duties

The tasks that interns will learn are dependent on the service area in which they are based. Examples of service areas include:

  • Refugee Support - how we work with refugee communities to help them settle in Camden and access services
  • HS2 rail development – how the Council works with residents to ensure the HS2 rail development has minimal negative impact and maximum benefit for them
  • HR - how we recruit new staff and apply rules that protect both staff and the Council
  • Mental health and special needs services – how the Council compares and selects the best services for residents who need of this type of support
  • Participation and Communications – how the Council engages with Camden residents to get their views and how we tell residents about the work we are doing.
  • Strategy - how the Council decides on the best way to deliver its promises to residents. This could be in relation to food/health, education, the environment, housing, construction/repairs etc

We can tell you more about these different service areas and help you consider which are of most interest to you.

In all cases, you don't need any experience - just a willingness to learn. You will be supported by your colleagues to understand the purpose of the team, how their work benefits Camden residents, and what you can do to help.
